The School Organized the 60th Anniversary Postgraduate Students’ Conference “BeCOMM & Beyond: Boundaries and Imagination of Next Generation Communication”
From July 10 to 11, the School held a postgraduate students’ conference to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Forty-two research postgraduate students from across the Greater China region and overseas were invited to attend the conference and give presentations. The conference focused on cutting-edge topics in the field of communication, themed “BeCOMM & Beyond: Boundaries and Imagination of Next Generation Communication.” The term “New Generation” refers not only to the young scholars in the field but also to research topics that challenge traditional boundaries and inspire imagination in communication studies.
During the two-day conference, the postgraduate students shared their insights on various topics, including the cultural entanglements and governance dilemmas in platform society, the politics of emerging media, online public discourse and local narratives, the evolving landscape of journalism and communication practices, social media, AI, and human society. They approached these issues either through empirical research or from a critical perspective, showcasing the theoretical imagination of a new generation of communication scholars and highlighting the research trends in contemporary communication studies.
